By Katie Nunner, Senior I can truly say I have felt the Theta love. Before college, I’d heard about sororities, but I wasn’t sure what I would think about this particular group of “Theta” women who had chosen me to be a part of their unique sisterhood. Going into formal recruitment, I wanted to meet new people and to learn about Greek life on campus. These women have blown me away with their kindness and have captured my heart with their charm, wit, and snappy casual attire. Being far from home, Theta has made me feel truly a part of a home on campus. I think it’s remarkable I know I can count on every single woman in this sorority to lend a shoulder to cry on, offer some advice on prepping for a test, or just be there if I want to grab a bite of food. |
They’ve shown it to me through their actions, their hearts, and their smiles. Even though we all come from diverse backgrounds, we all come together through this exceptional sisterhood.
Theta love is being a leader on campus and using it for good. My sisters are actively (if not overly) engaged in our campus community and seek to create positive change. It seems like everywhere I turn, Theta women are involved in diverse organizations and academic departments. Theta love is being goofy with your sisters—going on adventures to a new taco shop or laughing hysterically to a joke that might not really be that funny. Theta love is encouraging your sisters. I’ve learned so much from the stories of my sisters and they have inspired me through their experiences.
Theta love is chatting over coffee—hot or iced depending on the season—in the Zook about nothing and everything all at once. Theta love is bonding over being classy, sassy, and loving French macaroons. Theta love is walking down the JayWalk and getting breathless from saying “Hi!” to everyone because you know so many people! Theta love is welcoming new members as part of the family and getting to know them over group dinners in Smith. Theta love is my sisters acting like we’ve won every philanthropy event even though we might have lost by a few points. |
