Gamma deuteron had the pleasure of hosting one of our Educational Leadership Consultants this week. Aquene Kenerson, a University of Richmond graduate, stayed in Delaware’s own Winter Street Inn as she met with several members of our chapter. Though she arrived during the first blanket of snow and chilly temperatures, she said that she enjoyed the wintry weather! Her visit included tours of OWU’s campus, dinner at Amato’s, a trip to Something Sweet coffee shop, and plenty of lunches in the Zook Nook with Theta sisters. Officers, advisors, and committees met with Aquene to gain new insight on developing our chapter through administration, philanthropy, operations, sisterhood, and more.
Perhaps the highlight of Aquene’s stay was on Wednesday evening, when the whole chapter gathered for a letter writing campaign and leadership workshop. Over pizza and salad, members wrote letters to Gamma deuteron alumnae as part of the "Don't Break the Chain" letter-writing campaign as part of a community outreach project designed to benefit the ELC Program and need-based scholarships through Give to Lead, Give to Learn.
It was a great way for our house to bond and get to know Aquene while serving our fraternity as a whole. After the letters, Aquene gave a workshop that focused on individual leadership and how each member can apply it to her life. Certainly, each and every member grew from some sort of interaction with Aquene, and we definitely give thanks that we were able to have her here. Safe travels, Aquene—we can’t wait to see your adventures as an ELC!
