Brittany is spending the semester at Richmond University of London's Florence location studying Italian, history, and sociology with other American students.
"Studying abroad has already been an incredible experience. It's surreal to visit all of the places we have so far. Our program takes us on trips to London, Venice, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, and Rome, as well as smaller cities for day trips, and we have all of our other weekends free to travel around Europe or explore parts of Florence. My favorite trip that I've taken so far is Halloween weekend in Barcelona. Most of the students from my program ended up staying in the same hostel, so we all got to explore the city together. It's a huge and colorful city, much different than Florence, and we had a blast!
Even though we all refer to Florence as "home" by now, I still frequently find myself missing the comfort of being with my family, friends, and sisters. Spending all of this time away from home has caused me to appreciate every one of them even more than I already did. Traveling with one of my sisters and best friends definitely eases the homesickness, but I'm so excited to come back next semester to my real home in Theta!"
